A haven for landlubbers, Bermuda offers a deep range of ways to get your ground game going. However you’re looking to get active in Bermuda, there are plenty of ways to keep busy and at the same time explore the island.

Bermuda is a golfing paradise, whether you’re looking to challenge your game or partake in a family-friendly round of mini golf. In Royal Naval Dockyard you can play your way through models of the best golf holes in the U.S., Bermuda and Scotland at Bermuda Fun Golf, complete with waterfalls, saltwater ponds with live fish and beautiful sunset views.

Cycling is equally popular and there are several locations to rent a bicycle and plenty of places to explore, especially along the famous island-wide Bermuda Railway Trail.

If you prefer to keep it simple with a guided tour, set up an excursion with Hidden Gems tour company who reveals the island’s best-kept secrets, taking visitors on dry cave explorations in Tom Moore’s Jungle, to one of the island’s famed pink-sand beaches, or on a historical journey through the island’s past.
Another great way to explore the island is by horseback riding in St. George’s. Trail rides let you take in the scenic coastlines. You can also ride along beaches or on the island’s back roads — a good fit for both experienced equestrians or those just looking for a relaxing way to see more of the island.

Bermuda beckons with many ways for visitors to interact with the island’s natural beauty, wildlife, history and more. So, immerse yourself, experience the best of what the island has to offer.

Despite its compact size, Bermuda is chock-full of attractions to fill your itinerary. This tiny archipelago offers must-do experiences for adventurers, romantics and those seeking to explore the island’s culture, nature and history. Arguably one of the most wondrous natural settings in Bermuda is the Crystal Caves, where rainwater seeping into Bermuda’s limestone landscape carved out this masterpiece more than 140 feet below the surface. Gleaming stalactites and stalagmites and sparkling clear waters make for an otherworldly beautiful display.

Besides enjoying Bermuda’s present-day charms, you also can delve into its rich legacy at the National Museum of Bermuda. Housed in the largest fort ever built on island, the museum features 500 years of Bermuda history on display. A trip to the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum & Zoo is a must when you’re travelling as a family. Your children are sure to be enchanted by the 140,000-gallon tank with a complete living replica of a Bermuda coral reef, and they’ll love the ring-tailed lemurs that stroll freely along the same paths as visitors. As you touch down on the L.F. Wade International Airport runway, you’ve arrived in a land of rich history, stunning natural sights and endless amusement both above and below the surface.

ART & HISTORY

From the Bard of Avon to a legendary Beatle, Bermuda has inspired artists of all types to create.

No one can say when inspiration will strike an artist, but certain places may lend themselves more to hosting visits from the muses than others… including Bermuda. Case in point: It’s believed that William Shakespeare’s The Tempest was inspired by the sinking of the sailing vessel Sea Venture, which wrecked in Bermuda in 1609. Several centuries later, John Lennon’s first visit to Bermuda ended his five-year-long creative drought. During a stroll through the Bermuda Botanical Gardens in Paget, Lennon glimpsed a double fantasy freesia flower, which lent its name to his final album — Double Fantasy.

RENTALS

Letting a pro handle the navigation allows you to just focus on kicking back and hanging out. The island has a number of outfits where you can rent a small 25-foot to a larger 45-foot boat or catamaran, each skippered by a private captain. All can be made-to-order charters that can include sightseeing, reef snorkelling, cliff jumping or anything your heart desires.

If you feel like taking over the captain’s chair, several places on the island rent Boston Whaler and pontoon boats, affording you the opportunity to explore the tiny bays and beaches that dot the roughly 64 miles of the island’s coastline at your own pace. Whether half day or full day, beginner or experienced driver, instructors will have you up and ready to captain your own boat in no time. If you like the idea of something a bit more relaxed but that still takes some muscle power, rent a single or double kayak or try your balance out on a stand-up paddle board.

However, you shouldn’t let all that wave-running make you forget about what lies beneath the surface of some of the clearest water in the world. Bermuda’s waters are teeming with life, and many mysteries of the seas can be discovered by snorkelling around the reefs that ring the island and the famous ships that have been wrecked on them. There are many places to snorkel near shore, and several beach concessions rent out gear, including masks and snorkels.

SPAS & SALONS

Here in Bermuda, you’ll find plenty of spa and wellness options — whether your top priority is to stay fit, de-stress or look your best.

For the ultimate in indulgence, Bermuda offers world-class spas where you can schedule a massage, facial, manicure and pedicure, skin-care service, aqua therapy and more. Just imagine yourself enjoying a hydrating, natural aloe or cedar warming massage during a half- or full-day spa retreat. Some body treatments focus on stress relief, whilst others use local products like the Bermuda lily-infused aromatherapy. You’ll also find full-service salons where you can get styled so you’re ready for a memorable night out. Whether you’re looking for a complete makeover or a quick updo, you’re sure to find just what you need at one of the island’s salons.

WATER ACTIVITIES

For those looking for fun on or under the water, Bermuda is a hot spot for watersport activities. Bermuda reigns supreme when it comes to aquatic adventures, whether they involve skimming above the waves, hauling in a great catch, scoping out underwater sights or many more water-based wonders. Jump on WildCat, a high-powered catamaran that takes passengers on a revved-up sightseeing adventure around Bermuda’s coastline. A wet and wild ride aboard an inflatable 12-person Banana Boat is another thrilling option. Other ways to make waves on the island include pedaling around on a Hydrobike or testing your skills windsurfing or kiteboarding. The tricky part is what to choose, since all the options can be a great fit.
